My Kind Of GPS

We needed a GPS for our road trip last week. So we bought one and I am so happy with it.
We bought a Garmin nuvi 265T.

Aside from being affordable, this GPS is loaded with features that we really need. It speaks the street names and not only the turn by turn direction. It has millions of point of interests. Even in a small town, you'll find fuel and food store. Best of all it has hands-free calling or blue tooth capability. Garmin nuvi 265T is loaded with US and Canada maps.

One that made me happier is that it tells you alot of information like the speed limit, what time you'll arrive in your destination and the traffic!

It's a great gadget for travellers!

GPS Application on an iPhone?

Tomtom has an iPhone that also functions as a GPS. This GPS also tells the turn by turn direction. It's loaded with US and Canada map. The package includes the mount and car charger.

Some people claimed that it will make standalone GPS obsolete. For me, a standalone GPS is better than a combo. It's like a separate TV and a DVD player or a camcorder and a digital camera. The functionality and features are optimized when it's a standalone. Besides, what if your phone ring and you're driving in a strange place. Unless the Tomtom GPS/iPhone has a bluetooth capability, you'll find your self lost. So get, a standalone!

What is Conficker Worm Virus?

The Conficker worm attacks computers that don't have updated security patch. Once it gets into the machine, it can leave your computer at the mercy of the attacker. The attackers can have a total remote control of your computer.

Usually it will attack the business computers. But a home computer can be infected also. PC's are vulnerable to this virus. The Macs are safe from this virus.

You can get the Conficker worm in three ways. First, through an anonymous email with attachment. If you open it, the virus will automatically upload itself. Second, if you're connected in a network and the Administrator was attacked, it is more likely that you'll get it also. Third, if you have a movable device that was plugged in an infected computer and then plug it to your pc at home, you'll definitely get the virus.

If in case your machine your computer is infected with this virus, Microsoft and Symantec offers a free removal tool.

Some machines were loaded with this virus and was only set to activate last April Fool's Day. The Conficker virus is still a threat up until now.

The only thing you can do to secure your pc is to enable your Firewall, update your security patch from Microsoft, don't open any email with attachment, don't download programs that are not secured and make sure you have the best Anti-virus like Symantec.
